SKIMIND

The home program is free

You don't need to know how to ski

You teach your child to ski. I coach you.

A winter program for parents and kids aged 3–10 in Sweden. I work with you in English - your child learns from you, in whatever language you speak at home. You don't need to ski yourself - I'll tell you exactly what to do and when. Webinars and 6 weeks of home exercises cost nothing.

This is for parents who want to

  • Share it with their child. Be the one who taught them, not the one waiting at the café.
  • Not spend a fortune. A week of ski school adds up fast. Here the groundwork happens at home, for free.
  • Get past the first 20 minutes. No tears, no cold feet, no “I want to go home” before the first run.

Why I started this

Every season I see the same scene. A parent who means well takes their child up the slope, with no instructions and no look at who's coming down behind them, gives a little push and says “go!” Sometimes they run after them shouting “pizza!”

The child can't turn and doesn't know how to stop. If they're lucky, they don't end up on the ski patrol's sled. Either way they're scared, and fairly so. Then comes: “I told you pizza, why didn't you listen?”

A child who gets hurt and leaves in the ski patrol's sled is one thing. Worse is when they pick up the speed of a car in town and crash into a 100 kg adult. That hurts them both, and leaves the parents with a lot of trouble - hopefully they have good liability insurance.

On top of that, kids pick up bad habits that take years to unlearn.

It doesn't have to go this way. The video shows what I mean.

How not to teach your child to ski

How it works

I coach you, you teach your child - in your own words and your own language. Everything before the snow is free. You only pay if you join a lesson on the slope.

  1. 1 Free

    Kick-off webinar

What to expect over the season, and how to get the most out of it.

  2. 2 Free

    6 weeks of home exercises

Each week you get a message with that week's exercises. Aim for 3 minutes, 4–5 times a week - 2–3 times is fine too. Your job is to make sure your child can do each week's movements before moving on.

  3. 3 Free

    Before-the-slope webinar

What we'll do on the snow, and how to manage your child's energy so the day doesn't end after 20 minutes.

  4. 4 400 SEK

    On the slope together

Once there's snow, join a lesson on the slope. I explain what we're doing and what to watch for; you practise with your child.

    Per lesson · limited places

Places on the slope are limited. Families on the waitlist get first pick.

Why this works

You don't need to ski yourself

You won't be demonstrating anything. At home you guide short, playful exercises; on the slope I stand beside you and tell you what to do, what to say and when to let go. Parents who have never skied do this just fine.

Your child's language doesn't matter

I only talk to you, so your child never has to follow a stranger in a language they're still learning. All you need is to understand English.

My own method, built for little skiers

Before the season starts, your child builds the balance and coordination skiing needs and gets used to boots and skis at home. The exercises are ones I've developed and refined over years of teaching the youngest skiers, so the slope day goes to real skiing, not basics.

An American coaching credential

English isn't my first language, but my coaching qualification is from the US: Level 200 alpine coach, certified by the U.S. national ski federation. Plus 20 winters teaching in the Alps.
